The Grade II-listed High Lodge is half-a-mile from Blenheim Palace, in Blenheim, Oxfordshire, which was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
The 16th Century lodge was renovated in 1706 so that it could become a temporary home for the 1st Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, John and Sarah Churchill while they waited for work on Blenheim Palace to be completed.

Set in the heart of ancient oak woodland within the World Heritage Site in Oxfordshire, it is the former home of John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, who combined being a well-known Restoration poet with roles as comptroller of the park for King Charles II and keeper of the King's hawks.
The lodge was remodelled in the 1760s, to designs by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, when he landscaped the entire estate for the 3rd Duke.
Its elevated position and three-storey tower meant it became a focal point for the 4th Duke's pleasure grounds.
In the late 19th and early 20th century it was used by the Churchill family for grand picnics and large shooting parties, one of which was attended by the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, in 1896.
The core of the current building is thought to date from about 1586.

High Lodge is one of just five Grade II* listed structures, which mark 'particularly important buildings of more than special interest', within the World Heritage Site and the only one available to rent.
It has a kitchen with breakfast area, a sitting room with a large inglenook fireplace, dining room, study, utility room, six bedrooms and five bathrooms.There are lots of period features, including pointed-arched, bay windows and the crenelated parapet.
The lodge sits in about two acres of grounds, which includes manicured lawns, box hedging, formal gardens, an orchard and two duck ponds.
It is located near Combe Gate in the picturesque High Park area of Blenheim.
